Hagranop B.V. performs research in order to further implement quality improvements. One of its investigations involved chilling: getting the carrots to the right storage temperature after harvesting. The investigation showed that the initial chilling of produce must be done methodically. It should not be done too quickly, because then carrots do not get the chance to ‘heal’, which does not benefit the quality of the product. Hagranop B.V. also successfully implemented various other results of this investigation in practice.
